Transport and lorry-loader training
On-site ALLMI lorry-loader and MHE training for haulage and transport businesses nationwide. Courses cover the equipment and duties of staff who operate loaders, sling or signal loads, and move materials in depots and at delivery locations.
ALLMI Lorry Loader competence
Lorry Loader Operator training covers the safe use of the loader and its configuration. Slinger / Signaller training covers load attachment, lifting accessories and communication. Review both roles: the person using the controls and the person working with the suspended load do not automatically hold the same competence.

Depot and vehicle-mounted equipment
| Transport operation | Training route |
|---|---|
| Operate a lorry loader / HIAB | ALLMI Lorry Loader Operator |
| Attach, control or direct suspended loads | ALLMI Slinger / Signaller |
| Depot forklift handling | Counterbalance forklift training |
| Vehicle-mounted delivery truck | T1 Vehicle-Mounted Lift Truck |
Training can also cover counterbalance trucks, T1 vehicle-mounted lift trucks, pallet equipment and other MHE used in the depot. Courses are planned around vehicle movements, loading areas, customer interfaces, load types and the equipment actually supplied.
Information to provide
- Loader or truck make, model, category and attachments.
- Candidate experience and previous training evidence.
- Typical loads, delivery environments and who slings or signals.
- Site postcode, available practical area and preferred weekday or weekend dates.
A dependable national service
MHE Training UK plans and delivers the training directly. For longer journeys, we normally arrange overnight accommodation close to site at our own cost. This reduces same-day travel risk while preserving a personal, single-instructor service.
ALLMI training for transport fleets
Transport businesses often use the same vehicle in changing environments: the depot, a customer yard, a construction site or a roadside delivery location. ALLMI Lorry Loader training therefore needs to cover correct vehicle positioning, stabiliser deployment, rated-capacity information, attachments and the working area around the lift rather than treating the crane as an isolated machine.
For drivers who operate the loader, see ALLMI Lorry Loader Operator training. If another employee selects lifting accessories, attaches loads or gives signals, review ALLMI Slinger / Signaller training. Some employees may need both competences depending on their actual duties.
Depot forklift and vehicle-mounted equipment
Haulage and transport operators may also need counterbalance forklift training for depot handling, pallet-truck training for loading areas, or vehicle-mounted lift truck training for delivery work. Using the employer’s own equipment allows the course to address the controls, attachments, load types and traffic conditions staff face in normal operations.

Separate competences across transport operations
A driver may operate more than one type of equipment during the same working day, but competence should still be matched to each task. Operating a lorry loader, slinging or signalling a suspended load, using a T1 vehicle-mounted lift truck and driving a depot counterbalance truck involve different controls, hazards and responsibilities. Training can therefore be planned as a combination of relevant courses rather than assuming one certificate covers the whole transport operation.
For mixed fleets, send the machine list and candidate duties before dates are agreed. We can then separate the required ALLMI lorry-loader, slinger/signaller, T1 vehicle-mounted lift truck and depot forklift requirements.
Planning training across a fleet
- List each loader-crane or MHE category used by the candidates.
- Separate novice, experienced and refresher candidates before agreeing course duration.
- Identify who operates the loader and who slings, attaches or signals loads.
- Provide representative loads, lifting accessories and a safe segregated practical area.
- For unusual loader configurations, send photographs of the data plate, controls and attachment before booking.
Prices
ALLMI training is £400 per training day for the agreed course group, plus £50 per candidate for books and course materials. Other in-house MHE training is £300 per training day for the agreed course group. No VAT is added. Candidate numbers, duration and the total price are confirmed before booking. See ALLMI group-price examples. Review current training prices and weekday and weekend availability.
Driver CPC available with eligible ALLMI training
A full 7-hour day of eligible ALLMI Lorry Loader or Slinger / Signaller training can count as 7 hours towards Driver CPC, subject to driver eligibility, DVSA approval of the course and training centre, and correct registration and recording. Driver CPC must be arranged at booking; ALLMI attendance alone does not automatically qualify.
Extra charges apply per person, per day for the Driver CPC add-on. The additional cost is confirmed before booking. Combining the training can reduce the need for separate CPC training days, saving you time and helping keep your drivers on the road.
Ask for Driver CPC when requesting your quotation. See ALLMI guidance and DVSA course requirements.
