Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) forklift trucks help warehouses maximise storage capacity by operating in very narrow aisles and high-density racking.
Depending on the machine, VNA trucks may use rail guidance, wire guidance or free-steering outside the aisle, with training matched to the actual system in use.

F1 & F2 VNA forklift training on site
Courses can be matched to F1 Very Narrow Aisle – Operator-Up and F2 Very Narrow Aisle – Man-Down machines, including rail- or wire-guided systems where applicable.
Very narrow aisle truck training is intended for operators working with VNA equipment in high-density warehouse environments. Training is delivered at the customer’s premises using a suitable machine, aisle and racking area, subject to a safe training environment being available.

Manual descent and rescue planning
Where an elevating operator position is involved, the pre-use and workplace review must include the machine’s emergency-lowering or manual-descent arrangements. Employers also need a site-specific plan for a breakdown at height, including the difficult case where the forks or load are engaged in racking. Operator training does not replace that rescue plan.

- The VNA truck, its operating aisle and guidance system available and serviceable.
- Representative racking and loads, with the practical area segregated from normal traffic.
- Machine documentation, emergency procedures and a suitable theory area.

Course length is based on previous experience, the machine configuration and the number of candidates. Experienced lift-truck operators moving to VNA equipment may require conversion training, while new operators require a fuller programme of theory and practical instruction.

What is the difference between F1 and F2 VNA trucks?
F1 identifies operator-up VNA equipment, where the operator position elevates with the load, while F2 identifies man-down VNA equipment. Training is matched to the exact truck, guidance system, lift height and workplace.
Does VNA training cover manual descent and emergency lowering?

Can an experienced reach-truck operator convert to VNA?
Previous lift-truck experience can be taken into account, but the correct route depends on the operator’s history and the VNA machine being used. The training plan is confirmed before the course rather than assuming reach-truck experience automatically covers VNA operation.

This is an in-house MHE training course, with theory and practical assessment. Your quotation confirms the training route, equipment covered and certificate arrangements before you book.
