Training around production risks
On-site forklift, overhead-crane and wider MHE training for manufacturing and engineering businesses nationwide. Courses reflect your production areas, material movements, pedestrian routes and the equipment employees use.
Manufacturing forklift and MHE training UK
Courses can cover counterbalance and reach trucks, sideloaders and multidirectional machines, pedestrian equipment, overhead cranes, access equipment and other agreed categories. The training plan considers raw-material receipt, line feeding, tool or die movement, finished-goods handling and loading operations.
Site-specific manufacturing forklift training priorities
- Pedestrian routes, blind corners, doorways and production-line crossings.
- Loads with unusual lifting points, high value or fragile construction.
- Attachments, suspended loads and the boundary between lift-truck and crane work.
- Battery charging, refuelling, parking and defect-reporting arrangements.
- Contractors or visiting drivers entering the material-handling area.

Matching candidates to the right route
Training records and recent operating experience are reviewed before a novice, experienced, conversion or refresher course is selected. Site familiarisation should follow basic training where workplace hazards, controls or loads require it.
Owner-led national delivery
MHE Training UK plans and delivers each booked course directly. Weekday and weekend options help production sites isolate an area without unnecessary disruption. In-house MHE training is £300 per training day for the agreed course group, with no VAT added. Candidate numbers and course duration are confirmed before booking. See our training prices and course options.
Forklift and crane training for production sites
Manufacturing and engineering operations may use several forms of materials-handling equipment within the same production flow. Counterbalance trucks may unload raw materials, reach trucks may serve stores, sideloaders or multidirectional trucks may move long stock, while overhead cranes handle dies, fabrications or components that cannot be moved safely on forks. Each category needs training that reflects the machine and the operator’s actual duties.
Where a site also uses delivery vehicles fitted with loader cranes, ALLMI Lorry Loader Operator training and, where relevant, ALLMI Slinger / Signaller training can be planned separately from conventional forklift training.

Training around production constraints
Practical training may need to work around production lines, machine guarding, dispatch activity, restricted doorways or high-value work-in-progress. The training area must still be controlled properly. Weekend delivery can help where isolating a suitable area during normal production is difficult.
Planning a manufacturing-site training day
Before the course, identify which machines must remain in production and which area can be released for training. Representative loads should be available without exposing candidates to live process hazards, and pedestrian routes should be separated from the practical area. Where several departments use different equipment, candidate groups can be planned around the machines and tasks they actually perform rather than using one generic forklift course for the whole site.
For sites operating both forklifts and lifting equipment, send the complete equipment list before booking. This makes it easier to separate forklift, overhead-crane, access-equipment and ALLMI lorry-loader requirements and to plan the correct course route for each group.
Manufacturing forklift training booking checklist
To plan the correct on-site course without disrupting production, send these details before choosing dates:
- Machine category, make/model, capacity and attachments.
- Candidate numbers, previous training and recent operating experience.
- Typical loads, lifting points and the work carried out with the equipment.
- Site traffic controls, production restrictions and the practical area available.
- Any unusual attachments, suspended-load duties or overhead-crane applications.
- Site postcode plus every suitable weekday or weekend from our live training availability.
Manufacturing MHE training FAQs
Can several equipment categories be covered at one site?
Yes, but each category and candidate route needs to be planned separately. Send the complete equipment list so the required course days can be confirmed before booking.
Can training be delivered during shutdowns or weekends?
Yes. Weekday and weekend delivery is available subject to the live diary, which can help manufacturing sites create a safer segregated training area with less production disruption.
Do you provide overhead-crane training?
Yes, agreed overhead-crane and other MHE categories can be delivered on site where suitable equipment and a safe practical area are available.
